Founded in 1954, Diabetes Québec is a non-profit organisation with almost 30,000 members, including 1400 health professionals. Its mission is to train people, inform them of the existence of services and to ensure those services in the regions, apart from defending the rights of diabetic people and promoting research.

Diabetes is an insidious disease that impacts over 650,000 people in the province, among which 200,000 are entirely unaware. It progresses at an epidemic rate and causes a major financial burden: over 3 billion dollars per year in direct and indirect costs.
